A poodle, a spreadsheet, and countless awkward café conversations.
Paws Inside started because we got tired of asking “hi, sorry, are dogs allowed inside?” in every doorway on the way to brunch. This is the story of how Bentley our miniature poodle and unofficial chief taste-tester accidentally started a movement.

Chapter one of many
How this all started
No business plan. No pitch deck. Just one slightly damp dog and a growing collection of weird conversations.

Meet Bentley
Bentley is a chocolate-brown poodle with an opinion on everything. He believes couches are mandatory, squirrels are personal enemies, and every single human he meets owes him a belly rub. He is, objectively, the best boy.
He also, unfortunately, has a social calendar busier than ours. Which is how this whole mess started.

The Great Café Crusade
It always started the same way. We'd walk up to a lovely little café — you know the one, fogged-up windows, smell of cinnamon, a barista with suspiciously good hair — and then came the question:
“Hi, sorry, super random — are dogs allowed... inside?”
Cue the long pause. The nervous glance at the manager. The half-sentence that starts with “Well, technically…” and ends with us standing awkwardly in the doorway, holding a leash, a poodle, and the last shreds of our dignity.

Rainy patio, dripping umbrella, one lonely table, one unamused poodle under a blanket.
Welcome to Patio Purgatory
If we were lucky, we got the nod. More often, we got the patio. Always the patio. In the rain. Under a heat lamp that was either off or actively trying to cook us. Next to a drain. Always, somehow, next to a drain.
Meanwhile, inside, a toddler was flinging yoghurt at a wall and nobody batted an eye. But Bentley — a small gentleman who has never flung yoghurt at anything — he was the problem?

So we built a list
It started as a note on a phone. Then a spreadsheet. Then a spreadsheet with colour-coding, which is when you know things have gone too far.
Cafés where Bentley could sit under the table. Pubs where he got his own water bowl. Bookshops that didn't flinch when a 20kg poodle tried to help pick a paperback. Turned out, loads of places were quietly wonderful — we just had no way to find them without playing the “are dogs allowed inside” roulette every single time.
That spreadsheet is now Paws Inside. Hi.

Awkward questions we never want to ask again
Every one of these is a real sentence we have said, out loud, to a stranger, while holding a leash.
“Sorry, is your dog… friendly?”
“We'd love to — do you mind sitting outside?”
“Only if he's a small dog.”
“Technically we're not supposed to, but…”
“Is that a service animal?”
“Cute! But health and safety, y'know?”

What we're actually doing
Our mission, in one paw print
Paws Inside is a hand-picked directory of cafés, restaurants, pubs, shops and stays where your dog is welcome inside — not banished to a wet patio, not grudgingly tolerated, actually welcomed.
Inside means inside
No patio purgatory, no “only if it's quiet”. If a venue is listed, dogs are genuinely welcome through the front door.
For the anxious owners
We never again want you to stand in a doorway doing the awkward dance. Check the app, walk in, order the oat flat white.
Venues we actually love
Real places, real experiences. If a spot treats Bentley like royalty, it gets a gold star. If they send him outside, they don't make the list.

The team behind the tail wags
Two humans, one poodle, a lot of opinions about flat whites.
